Indian Army ready to foil attacks by over 300 terrorists who are waiting along LoC, Lieutenant General AK Bhatt

Over 300 terrorists are active, with 250 ready to infiltrate the line of control (LOC), Lieutenant General AK Bhatt revealed on Saturday.

Lt Gen Bhatt made the statement at the GOC of 15 corps at the concluding ceremony of the 15-day Army fair at Base Keran sector along the LOC. “Over 250 terrorists are ready to infiltrate through various launch pads set up by the Pakistan Army,” he said.

He, however, added that the Indian Army was ready to foil any effort by the terrorists. “There will be more infiltrations in winter, but our Army has been alerted to foil those efforts,” he added.

He also advised the people of South Kashmir to take a cue from those in the northern part of the state, who do not shelter terrorists. “The people of Kairan in North Kashmir have always supported us, we will do our utmost to help these people and recruit more boys from this area to the Army,” he said.

Earlier on Saturday, the body of a man, who was abducted by militants from Sopore town, was found with his throat slit in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district Saturday, police said.

Tawseef Ahmad Ganie (30), a resident of Tujjar area of Sopore, was abducted from his shop Wednesday, a police official said.

The body, was found in an orchard in the Check Harwan area of the north Kashmir district Saturday morning, the official said.

Preliminary investigations reveal that proscribed militant organisation Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was behind the abduction and killing, he said.

The official said police have registered a case and the matter is being investigated.
