MKU Partners with Estonian Innovator Vegvisir to Equip Indian Armored Vehicles with cutting-edge Situational Awareness System

In a major technological advancement for India's defence sector, leading protection solutions provider MKU Limited has partnered with Estonian firm Vegvisir. This collaboration will see Vegvisir's cutting-edge Mixed Reality Situational Awareness System (MRSAS) integrated into thousands of Indian armoured vehicles, substantially improving their operational capabilities.

The strategic partnership was formalized during the recent Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. Estonia's Minister of Economic Affairs and Information Technology, Tiit Riisalo, participated in the summit, emphasizing the deepening ties between India and Estonia across both economic and technological sectors.

Vegvisir's MRSAS represents a significant shift in the way armoured vehicle crews interact with their environments. Key features of the system include:
  • 360-Degree Virtual Dome: Operators gain a panoramic, real-time view of their surroundings.
  • Live Data Overlays: Battlefield information is projected into the operator's field of view for enhanced decision-making.
  • See-Through-the-Armour Capability: Obstacles and threats are visualized, improving situational awareness and safety.
  • Modular, Reliable Design: Allows customization for specific requirements and ensures resilience in demanding conditions.
  • Multi-Spectrum, NATO-Compliant: Facilitates interoperability with India's existing systems and those of potential NATO allies.
This partnership aims to equip over 10,000 Indian Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs), and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs). The collaboration positions MKU as a key player in India's drive for self-reliance in defence technology ('Atmanirbharta').

Mr. Neeraj Gupta, Managing Director of MKU Limited, underscored the significance of the partnership: "At MKU, we champion the spirit of the Indian-Estonian partnership, dedicated to empowering heroes. Our duty is to strengthen global collaborations and provide indigenous solutions that empower our defence forces. This collaboration with Vegvisir is a testament to our relentless pursuit of self-reliance, contributing to the strength and resilience of our heroes. We are proud to be part of a transformative journey aligning with our nation’s vision for a self-sufficient and secure future.”

Ms. Prachi Gupta, CEO of Netro Optronics at MKU, added: “Netro Optronics is honoured to contribute globally, aligning with the principles of Atmanirbharta and ‘Make in India.’ We are committed to empowering our heroes with cutting-edge, indigenous solutions. Our collaboration with Vegvisir signifies a significant stride towards self-reliance and strengthening our defence capabilities. As we work towards a secure and self-sufficient future, we take pride in being part of a transformative journey that aligns with our nation’s aspirations.”

The MKU-Vegvisir partnership is a major development in India's pursuit of advanced defence capabilities. MRSAS technology is set to give India's armoured forces a decisive battlefield advantage, enabling informed decisions, maximizing crew safety, and enhancing overall operational effectiveness.

What happened to ajnalens awareness technologies why dont we support local companies when they offered a similar system instead of supporting a foreign startup from estonia

India has to be careful and protect its IPR so whatever we develop it can't just be stolen by MKU and sold to another or give another company a license to produce it. Whatever we develop will benefit us technologically and financially so we should continue to develop our technology and weapons capabilities.
